Ring expands 'Search Party' feature for lost dogs to all users

Ring's AI-powered Search Party feature, which helps locate lost dogs by scanning neighbors' camera footage, is now available to all users in the U.S., including those without Ring cameras. The company is also committing $1 million to equip 4,000 animal shelters with Ring camera systems.

Ring has expanded its AI-powered Search Party feature to all users in the United States, regardless of whether they own a Ring camera. The feature, which launched in fall, uses artificial intelligence to identify possible matches for lost dogs across neighbors' camera footage. When a pet owner reports a lost dog in the Ring app, nearby outdoor cameras scan for potential matches and alert camera owners, who can optionally share video clips with the pet owner without revealing their phone number.

Since its launch, Search Party has reunited more than one dog per day with its owners, according to Ring. Previously, the feature was only available to Ring camera owners. Ring founder Jamie Siminoff stated that expanding access to all community members strengthens the ability to find lost pets effectively. Alongside this expansion, Amazon-owned Ring announced a $1 million commitment to provide Ring camera systems to animal shelters, with a goal to equip 4,000 U.S. shelters. The company is also partnering with nonprofits including Petco Love and Best Friends Animal Society.
