Wispr Flow launches Android app for AI-powered dictation
AI-powered dictation startup Wispr Flow has released its Android app, featuring a floating bubble interface and 30% faster dictation speeds following an infrastructure rewrite. The app supports over 100 languages and includes a new Hinglish model for Indian users who mix Hindi and English.
Wispr Flow launched its Android app with a distinct interface design using a floating bubble for voice input, allowing users to hold and dictate or press once to start and stop the recording process. The app continues the company's core functionality of cleaning up filler words and formatting text based on app context and spoken content across multiple applications.
The Android release coincides with an infrastructure overhaul that improved dictation speed by 30 percent. Wispr Flow added support for Hinglish, a mixed Hindi-English language variant used by speakers in India, representing the company's first dedicated model for code-switched speech. According to the startup's co-founder and CEO Tanay Kothari, the Android platform provided greater flexibility for voice experience development compared to previous platforms.
Wispr Flow has gained significant venture capital backing, having raised $81 million across multiple funding rounds. The company secured $30 million in June led by Menlo Ventures and $25 million in November led by Notable Capital, with the latest valuation reaching $700 million. Early rollout data showed users have spoken over 1.3 million words in English within days of availability.
