
Toyota ranks near bottom in automaker supply chain cleanliness report
Tesla, Ford, and Volvo top a new ranking of 18 global automakers based on efforts to eliminate carbon emissions and human rights violations from their supply chains. Toyota, the world's largest car manufacturer, ranks near the bottom of the list compiled by Lead the Charge, a coalition of climate and environmental organizations.
Lead the Charge, a global coalition including the Sierra Club, The Sunrise Project, and Public Citizen, released rankings of 18 automakers evaluating their efforts to address carbon emissions, environmental harms, and human rights violations in their supply chains. Tesla, Ford, and Volvo occupy the top three positions in the assessment. Toyota, despite being the world's largest car company by production volume, ranks near the bottom of the list, highlighting ongoing challenges in getting the manufacturer to clean up its supply chain practices. This marks the fourth edition of the coalition's supply chain leaderboard.
